SATURDAY BANDS

THE HUNDRED DOLLAR QUARTET (USA)

For the first time in the UK you can hear the songs of BR5-49 performed by Chuck Mead and Jay McDowel and the songs of the Bellfuries performed by Joey Simeone and Chris Sensat, all in one spectacular Supergroup! This was a show we put together for the Rave that was cancelled due to Pontins closing, so we’re thrilled to get the guys, (all successful and busy musicians), back together and to finally make it happen!

DEKE DICKERSON & THE WHIPPERSNAPPERS (USA)

A titan of rockabilly and roots sounds, Deke’s music stands up against the ‘originals’ work that is the bedrock of our scene. And I don’t say that lightly. But what I most admire is his ability to remain funny, and entertaining, and to harness the energy of his young band of whippersnappers (see what I did there) for the next generation of rockin fans.

ROCKIN ROCKET 88 (ENG)

Fronted by the charismatic Leroy with his smooth vocal delivery and backed by a strong rhythm section with self-penned songs, it’s not hard to see why this was a band destined to break into the wider world of music. We’re sort of glad (in a selfish type of way) that they didn’t make it big… think of the fee we’d have to pay!

THE PLAYBOYS (ENG)

One of the longest running bands playing in the UK, the Playboys have backed many original artists as well as being a hard-working band in their own right. With well-established musicians and our home-grown vocal talent and guitar work of Rob Glazebrook, this is a much-anticipated show.

EDDIE & THEE SCORPIONS (USA)

It’s great to be able to bring over the hottest young bands from the US, and these guys are scalding hot right now! Hot enough to melt their own vinyl records and the hardest of hearts but cool enough to breeze onto the stage and blow everyone away…

JENNY LEE (ENG)

It’s always good to see and hear new young bands on our predominantly older scene. Here’s a young woman who deserves to be on the Rave stage. Not because she’s a woman but simply because she is a really talented singer who fronts a really talented young band!

THE HILL BROTHERS (FRANCE)

Formed from the slightly crazed Hillbillies, the Hill Brothers bring their own songs and authentic style to their first appearance at the Rockabilly Rave. We can only assume that they’ve got a weekend release from whichever institute usually looks after them. Are they brothers? Do they play on a hill? Find out the truth in April.
